A paperback and an ebook can look like the same book, but they often attract very different readers.
Price the ebook too low and it can stop feeling like a real purchase. Good for impulse buys, maybe. Less good if it quietly teaches people to wait for the next discount instead of treating the book as worth owning now.
The awkward bit is that “cheap” can help discovery and still damage expectations. Especially in fiction, where people already have a dozen reasons to postpone buying. Sometimes the price is part of the signal.
