Fantasy
The best non-human cultures in fantasy usually don’t just get humans wrong. They notice the habits we’ve stopped seeing.
Why do we shake hands with strangers? Why do we keep saying “fine” when we mean the opposite? Why is everyone so committed to private property, punctuality, or knocking before entering when the room is clearly on fire?
That’s where the fun starts. Not “they misunderstand us”, but “they find our normal life baffling, rude, or wildly inefficient”. It makes the human world feel strange again, which is half the point of fantasy anyway.
