Behind the stories
Will May writes mainly in crime and enjoys discussing both the creative and practical sides of making books, from early drafts to finished editions.
A story does not need to explain everything to know what it means.

On the writing desk
Later first draft
When a Nottingham proofreader starts finding altered details in the digital galleys of a crime imprint, the changes seem trivial at first: a street name, a date, a witness statement. Then one correction points to a real missing woman, and the pattern begins to look less like sloppiness and more like someone hiding a murder in plain sight. As she follows the paper trail through publishing offices, private messages and old city streets, she has to decide whether the truth is worth exposing if it destroys the only life she has kept carefully in order.
