Early draft
In a near-future Dundee where personal memories can be stored, edited, and traded, Mara Keir works in a municipal archive that preserves the parts people want to forget. When she discovers a gap in her own recorded past, she starts tracing it through other people's discarded memories and finds evidence that someone has been quietly altering the city’s collective history. The deeper she goes, the less certain she becomes about what counts as a true life.
