In a rain-soaked coastal kingdom, a mapmaker who can read the hidden routes in old stone is hired to trace a chain of vanished villages that no longer appear on any official chart. Her work leads her to a quiet sea-warden bound to an ancient oath, and the two of them uncover a borderland where the kingdom has been editing its own history for generations. The deeper they go, the more the missing places seem less like ruins and more like something deliberately kept out of reach.
