In 1816 London, a widowed typesetter’s daughter is drawn into the orbit of a sharp-tongued printer who needs her help to rescue a scandalous pamphlet from being pulped before it can be read. As they work through deadlines, damaged paper, and other people’s moral certainty, the pair discover that discretion can be as dangerous as scandal. The book follows a romance built in margins, proofs and inconveniently timed conversations.
