Sixteen-year-old Mara Vale is sent to spend the summer in a fading seaside town with an aunt she barely knows, where everyone seems to have an opinion about what should be saved and what should be left to rot. When she starts documenting the town’s disappearing places for a local archive project, she uncovers a family secret tied to the closure of the old ferry line and the people who were quietly pushed aside by it. The harder she looks, the more she has to decide whether telling the truth will help anyone, or simply break what is left.
