When a failing coastal bookshop inherits a sealed room of unsorted paperbacks from a vanished collector, its restorer begins to find that certain books have been altered in ways no printer could manage. As the shop’s ordinary routines start to shift, she realises the collection is recording the people who handle it, and revising them in return.
