First draft
After her father’s death, Niamh Keane returns to a small riverside town in the west of Ireland to clear out the house he kept half untouched, half neglected, like a decision he never finished making. Among old correspondence, an unopened planning notice and a stack of notebooks, she finds signs that he had been trying to stop a local care home from closing, and that he may have been lying to everyone about why.
