Behind the stories
Simon Wells writes across adventure and historical fiction, with a particular interest in character, atmosphere, revision and the details that turn a manuscript into a finished book.
A story does not need to explain everything to know what it means.

In 1798, a disgraced Dublin surveyor is sent to the west coast to recover a missing set of military charts before they can be used to expose a planned landing. What starts as a tidy errand turns into a slow chase through rain, bad roads, and worse loyalties. The deeper he goes, the less certain he is whether the maps are meant to save lives or spend them.
