When meticulous copy editor Mara Ellison is hired to rescue the failing final novel of a beloved local author, she discovers the manuscript has been left full of deliberate errors, missing pages and one very inconveniently attractive illustrator who insists the mess is part of the story. As they work through the book together, Mara starts to suspect the real problem is not the novel at all, but the life she has carefully formatted around avoiding risk.
