Early draft
In late nineteenth-century Galway, a clerk in a customs office discovers that a set of altered shipping records is tied to the ruin of a family he once knew. As he follows the paper trail through warehouses, parish offices and drawing rooms, he is forced to choose between preserving the order that protects him and exposing the damage it was built on.
