First draft
When a cataloguer is sent to inventory the contents of a decaying house on the edge of Cambridge, she finds the rooms arranged with a precision that feels less like neglect than concealment. The house seems to alter its order according to who is looking, and the missing family at its centre may not be gone in the ordinary sense. As the work becomes harder to leave unfinished, she begins to suspect the house is keeping track of what she notices.
