First draft
When a failing municipal library in Newcastle begins receiving books that were never catalogued, junior archivist Mara Bell notices the stories inside them are changing the people who read them. As the missing pages spread through the building, she has to work out why the library seems to remember deaths no one else does. The deeper she goes, the more it looks as if something has been borrowing lives from the shelves.
