First draft
In 1893 Inverness, a widowed mapmaker's assistant inherits a half-finished atlas and discovers that the missing pages point to more than old land disputes. As she follows the trail through archives, harbours and family lies, she begins to suspect the atlas was built to hide a death rather than record a coastline. The more she redraws the past, the less certain she becomes about who her husband really was.
