When a practical, recently single copyeditor inherits a cramped flat above a failing independent bookshop in Dundee, she plans to fix the place up, sell it, and get back to her sensible life. The problem is the shop's stubborn owner, who thinks the building still has a future and is annoyingly good at getting under her skin while they argue over every decision from shelving to boiler repairs.
