The Salt Road
In the winter of 1816, a ruined customs officer is sent inland from the west coast of Ireland to trace a missing wagon of salt before it disappears into the hands of smugglers, tenants and men with better reasons to lie than he has. What begins as a simple recovery job turns into a journey through bog roads, half-burned estates and uneasy loyalties, where every witness seems to be telling a useful version of the truth.
