On a neglected trade route at the edge of a fractured empire, a systems archivist discovers that a string of routine navigation failures is not an accident but a deliberate attempt to erase entire settlements from the charts. As rival fleets, smugglers and local stations close in, she has to decide whether to preserve the truth, or use it to force a failing political order back into the light. The novel follows the practical, ugly work of keeping ships, people and information alive when nobody in power wants the same thing.
