When a freelance proofreader in Bangor is asked to tidy up the manuscript of a local true-crime book, she spots a pattern in the corrections that points to a real unsolved killing. The deeper she goes, the more it looks as if someone has been editing the past to keep a death looking accidental. The trouble with noticing small details is that eventually they start noticing you back.
