In a near-future Aberdeen where personal records, city systems and memory are increasingly outsourced to private archives, a reluctant metadata technician discovers that whole stretches of ordinary life have been edited out of the public record. As she follows the missing threads, she finds a pattern tied to a citywide infrastructure project and to the people who profit when inconvenient histories disappear. The deeper she goes, the more she has to decide whether a clean record is worth the damage it takes to make one.
