In a fading coastal town in 1950s Yorkshire, a widow takes work cataloguing the contents of a house left to rot after the war. As she sorts the rooms, she begins to uncover the private bargains that kept one family intact and another quietly broken. The house becomes a record of what people hide when the official version of events is no longer enough.
