Mara Kavanagh, a careful copyeditor with a talent for noticing what other people are trying not to say, returns to her hometown to help sort out her late aunt’s bookshop. There she finds herself repeatedly crossing paths with Niall Byrne, the builder hired to repair the place, whose easy charm is matched only by his ability to disrupt her plans. As the shop’s future hangs in the balance, Mara has to decide whether she is protecting the life she wants or the one she has simply become used to.
