First draft
On a tidal colony built around a failing archive of weather models, a data editor discovers that the records are being altered to erase a settlement that may never have officially existed. As she follows the discrepancies through tide logs, family transcripts and broken station software, she has to decide whether the truth is a place, a person, or just the version of events that survives formatting. The novel leans on close character work, technical detail and the awkward business of deciding what counts as evidence.
