First draft
In 1890s Bristol, a meticulous map copyist is asked to help reconstruct a vanished dockside district from scraps, memory and official lies. As the work goes on, she realises the missing streets are tied to a family disappearance she has spent years pretending not to care about. The novel follows her slow movement from careful observation to the dangerous business of naming what was erased.
