The Quiet Hours

Seventeen-year-old Rowan Finch spends most evenings in the back room of his aunt’s late-opening stationery shop, where he edits homework, listens to other people’s problems and tries not to think about his own. When a local housing redevelopment threatens the row of small businesses that keep his world intact, Rowan starts recording the ordinary details of the street before they disappear, only to realise the story he is collecting is partly his own.
