When a failing branch library in Newcastle is scheduled for closure, its cataloguer Mara Bell begins finding books that should not exist, each one describing events that have not yet happened. As she digs into the building’s past, she discovers the library has been quietly keeping the town’s worst memories in order, and something is starting to borrow them back. The deeper she goes, the less certain she is whether the library is haunted, or simply hungry.
