Behind the stories
Olivia Lloyd is a science fiction writer interested in how stories work, how readers respond to them and how technology is changing the way writers create and publish.
A story does not need to explain everything to know what it means.

First draft
In a near-future Aberdeen where coastal libraries have become climate shelters and data repositories, Mara Innes works in a municipal archive that preserves the last copies of things people were never able to send. When a pattern appears in the unsent messages, she begins to suspect the archive is not only storing grief, but quietly shaping what the city remembers. The more she investigates, the more she has to decide whether preservation is a form of care or a slower kind of erasure.
