When Mara Sutherland inherits a decaying tenement on a Glasgow street where the last flat is always listed but never occupied, she expects paperwork, damp and a few awkward neighbours. Instead, she finds the building remembers its dead tenants, and something in the empty top floor has started answering back. As Mara tries to trace the house's buried history, she discovers the property has been waiting for someone who can hear what it wants.
