First draft
When a municipal records room in Derry begins receiving files for people who are still alive, a tired indexing clerk finds that every new document predicts a death in the city. The papers point back to an abandoned archive in Ballynafeigh, where the city’s forgotten losses seem to have learned how to keep themselves. As the record grows, so does the thing writing it.
