First draft
Set in Derry in 1891, the novel follows a widowed bookseller who finds a hidden ledger in the ruins of a shuttered convent. The entries point to a long-buried disappearance, but every name in the book seems to have something to lose if the truth comes out. As the city prepares for a public ceremony, she has to decide whether some histories are meant to stay buried.
