In a kingdom where old roads vanish overnight and new ones appear in the wrong places, a mapmaker is hired to trace the shifting borders before the winter trade routes fail completely. What begins as a practical commission turns into a journey through half-forgotten forts, drowned villages and a province quietly being erased by magic. The deeper she travels, the more she suspects the maps are not recording the land but helping decide what survives of it.
