The Catalogue of Small Absences
In 1920s London, a junior librarian at the British Museum begins quietly tracing the disappearance of a set of borrowed books, only to find that the missing volumes seem to map onto a private history no archive has recorded. As she follows the trail through reading rooms, boarding houses and the aftershocks of the war, the search becomes less about recovering the books than deciding what kinds of lives are allowed to remain legible.
