In a kingdom where old roads vanish overnight and new ones appear in their place, a mapmaker is hired to chart the impossible borderlands before a warlord uses them to cut the realm apart. She soon discovers the landscape is changing for a reason, and that the missing routes are tied to a buried oath the kingdom has spent generations pretending not to remember. The job becomes less about drawing the world than deciding which version of it should survive.
