Later first draft
After her father dies, a tired proofreader returns to a collapsing coastal house in west Wales to sort through his papers and finish the last inventory for the family bookshop. The books keep changing in ways she cannot explain, and the house seems to remember every argument, omission and lie that was ever folded into it. What begins as practical clearing-out turns into a slow, stubborn haunting rooted in inheritance, secrecy and the cost of keeping things in order.
