In 1912, a quiet assistant librarian in Inverness discovers that a missing catalogue ledger may be the only record of a local family’s eviction from the land they once worked. As she follows the paper trail through estate offices, parish registers and old letters, she is drawn into a dispute that could expose how neatly history has been edited. The deeper she goes, the more she has to decide whether keeping the peace is worth helping the truth disappear.
