Behind the stories
Marcus White writes across horror and gothic, with a particular interest in character, atmosphere, revision and the details that turn a manuscript into a finished book.
A story only works when somebody has something to lose.

When a declining coastal guesthouse in Northumberland begins flooding with seawater that should not be there, its owner discovers the building is built over a sealed underground chapel and whatever was left inside still wants a way out. As the tides rise, old family bargains, local silence and a handful of very ordinary domestic details become the shape of the threat. It is a story about inheritance, rot and the unhelpful habit of pretending a problem will stay underground if no one names it.
