When seventeen-year-old Mara Vale finds a tide-worn atlas that maps places no cartographer admits exist, she discovers her island town is built on a seam between the living world and a drowned kingdom below it. To keep the sea from taking back what was stolen, she has to work with the one boy who can hear the voices in the water, even though trusting him may cost her the only home she has left.
