First draft
In post-war Coventry, a quiet ledger clerk discovers that a set of missing factory records may hide more than bookkeeping errors. As he traces the paper trail through bomb sites, ration queues and half-rebuilt streets, he begins to uncover the cost of the choices people made to survive. The novel follows the uneasy line between truth, duty and the stories a city tells itself after ruin.
