Seventeen-year-old Mara spends her evenings working in a failing independent bookshop in Stirling, where she quietly records the stories customers leave behind in second-hand paperbacks. When the shop’s landlord announces a sudden sale, Mara and her friend Finn start a last-ditch plan to prove the shop matters, only to uncover a chain of private losses hidden in the books on its shelves.
