First draft
When a tide-worn row of cottages on the Gower coast is marked for demolition, local archivist Mara Venn is asked to document their history before they go. She finds that the houses were built around a sealed underground chamber, and that something in the walls has been listening for a long time. As the weather turns and the village begins to forget its own people, Mara has to decide what, exactly, was meant to stay buried.
