When Mara Keene inherits a decaying terrace house on the edge of Gloucester, she discovers the building keeps answering back through the walls, the pipes and the dead spaces between rooms. The messages begin as warnings, then shift into demands, and Mara has to work out whether the house is trying to protect her or recruit her.
