First draft
In a rain-soaked coastal city built around a forbidden library, a failing map-cutter discovers that certain books can be used to alter what the dead remember. When a buried archive begins resurfacing page by page, she is forced into a bargain with a clerk who has spent years erasing his own past. Every correction leaves the city a little less stable, and the people she loves a little harder to recognise.
