The Hollow Lantern

In a city built around a dead saint’s bones, lanterns are kept burning with memory instead of oil. When the lamps begin to go dark, a reluctant archivist discovers that the city’s light is fed by stolen grief, and the supply is running out. To keep the streets from falling into something worse than darkness, he has to decide whose suffering is worth preserving.
