First draft
When a failing relay station on the edge of a disputed trade route starts broadcasting messages from ships that vanished years ago, an exhausted systems auditor is sent to find out why. The station is supposed to be obsolete, which is usually how trouble begins. What she finds there turns a routine inspection into a fight over memory, ownership, and who gets to decide what was lost.
