First draft
In 1890s Coventry, a clerk with a talent for maps is drawn into the disappearance of a factory foreman after a series of altered street plans begins to point toward places that should not exist. As he follows the paper trail through workshops, chapels and back rooms, he discovers that the city’s official version of events depends on a lie everyone has agreed to preserve. The closer he gets to the truth, the more he has to decide whether a neat ending is worth the damage it causes.
