When a small Highland library is told it will lose funding unless it can prove its relevance, the staff begin quietly tracking what people actually read, borrow, and leave unfinished. One librarian, already uneasy about the tidy stories institutions tell about themselves, starts to suspect the library is holding together a few private lives as much as a collection of books. The problem is that saving the place may mean exposing the habits, compromises, and silences that keep it running.
