In Oxford, a failed library conservator discovers that old maps can trap the dead in the margins, and that someone has started redrawing the city to make those ghosts disappear. As streets shift and buildings forget what they were built on, she has to decide whether preserving the past means keeping it intact or letting it change shape before it destroys the living.
