Early draft
After a long-closed municipal library in Bristol is earmarked for conversion into luxury flats, a meticulous cataloguer is hired to help clear its remaining archive and discovers a hidden set of correspondence tucked inside discarded bookplates. As she traces the letters back through the building’s former staff and borrowers, the library becomes less a place to save than a record of the compromises that emptied it in the first place.
