When a small-town book restoration workshop in Kilkenny is left a locked room after a local collector is found dead, Mara O'Connell expects the problem to be paper damage, not murder. The only clue is a borrowed key that appears in more than one place it should not exist. As Mara follows the trail through lending records, family grudges, and carefully arranged shelves, she learns that old books can hide newer lies very well.
