First draft
When a failing Lancashire library is due to be cleared, its temporary cataloguer finds a set of uncatalogued books that should not exist, each one describing a death that has not happened yet. As he tries to trace where they came from, the library begins to behave less like a building and more like a locked room with a memory. The deeper he goes, the more the missing books seem to be writing him back.
